The use of Access Cards is not restricted to a particular type of organization but can grant the holder access to restricted areas. You’ll find an Access Card in all types of businesses, government, most corporations, healthcare and hospitals.

Government facilities are increasingly requiring the use of an Access Card or Prox Cards (Proximity Card). Likewise, the use of barcoding cards are practically endless. Combining barcodes with other technologies on a security card makes it more versatile.

Identity card holders can prevent your Access Cards from common damage like bending and twisting. Cards with magnetic stripes are easily damaged by liquids or especially coming into contact with magnets. Placing them into card holders can save you from such accidental damage to your cards.

For any form of identification badge, from Prox Cards to 4 color card printing, bar code card, and business card, you can trust Compucard to provide you with high-quality products.

An access card, referred to as Proximity Cards, allow employees to gain access into door entrances of a building.

A Proximity Card is a “contactless” Smart Card which can be read without inserting it into a reader device, as required by earlier mag stripe cards such as credit cards and “contact” type smart cards. Proximity Cards are part of the contactless card technologies. Just by holding one near an electronic reader for a moment they enable the identification of an encoded number. The reader usually produces a beep or other sound to indicate the Proximity Card has been read.

An Access Card works by allowing or granting access primarily accomplished by using an ID card software that assigns employees, workers or students the necessary credentials which enable entry into a specified door or set of doors.

By having a basic knowledge of the ID card software function is important, but what’s more important is understanding of how the software plays out in the entire access process.

The ID card software is the brains of the security system. Why is that? Because the software needs to understand what information is “programmed” into the cards and allow the respective card readers to “read” that information so a person can gain access.

When your Smart Card is programed, most software applications don’t require you to be intricately familiar with the programming infrastructure. Instead the software simply wants you to “assign” a specific card number to each person. That’s the easy part.

Compucard delivers a complete solution of secure Smart Card IDs and credentials in a variety of factors for physical and logical access control as well as converged solutions for building and computer access, transit payment, cashless vending, biometrics and many other applications.
